Valerie Nuila

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Nervous System Informed Therapist, SSP Certified Provider
Licensed in FL (available virtual sessions)

Valerie is an Anxiety Coach and Nervous system Informed Therapist. She has a bachelor’s in psychology from The University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. She is passionate about helping others in their journey through healing by empowering individuals to achieve their goals and providing a safe space where people can learn how to respond to the alarms of a sensitized nervous system, find their voice and express their authentic self.

Valerie is a nervous system informed therapist. She believes that the key to finding balance is through nervous system regulation. If we’re feeling stressed, worried, or unsafe, our defenses go up, and whatever activity or therapy we’re engaged in can be less effective. By learning to better respond to the signals of a sensitized nervous system, we can change how we interact with life’s challenges, how we experience and engage in therapy, and how we connect to the world around us and others in it.

Valerie has 10 + years of experience working in the mental health field. Throughout her career she has developed a heartfelt interest to work with individuals suffering from debilitating chronic anxiety, panic attacks and compulsive disorders.

Valerie combines her training and knowledge in different modalities such as Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, and EFT tapping to help her clients regulate and access that felt sense of safety. Valerie is trained in Polyvagal theory, Safe and Sound Protocol, crisis intervention, Emotional Focus Therapy for Individuals (EFIT), Suicide prevention and management (CAMS), and Gottman Method Therapy. Although Valerie shares that her best training has been healing and overcoming her own experience living chronic anxiety. She has a diverse background and speaks both Spanish and English fluently.
